


Bio:
Shoshana Yavneh Shattenkirk Børve is a composer, pianist, and singer-songwriter based in Bergen, Norway, and New York City, focusing on hybrid theatrical-classical works for adults and children, as well as liturgical music.
Highlights of her composing career include performances of original works at The United Nations General Assembly Hall, Lincoln Center, Dallas Symphony Myerson Hall, Feinstein’s 54 Below, The New York Library for the Performing Arts, The Ferguson Center for the Arts, The US Mint in New Orleans, Maison in New Orleans, Times Square, Touro Synagogue, Green Room 42, and Bergen Kjøtt.
Shoshana was invited to sing her original setting of Hashkiveinu, a Jewish prayer for peace, at the United Nations General Assembly Hall for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Shoshana's immersive children's opera-musical in development, A Note of Explanation, written with AJ Freeman, about a fairy living in a doll's house in a queen's castle, based on the book by Vita Sackville West, was commissioned by Lincoln Center and The New York Library for Performing Arts. The show was later also commissioned by The Ferguson Arts Center.
Shoshana's theatrical-symphonic show in development about Clara Schumann, which combines her music with the late pianist and composer's, was performed at the Dallas Symphony's Women in Music Conference (press release: https://www.dallassymphony.org/discover-connect/dso-vault/read/press-releases/dallas-symphony-orchestra-announces-women-in-classical-music-symposium/, where Shoshana was also invited to be a panelist.
Clara, was also developed at the New Musicals Lab (National Public Radio Interview: https://mediaplayer.whro.org/program/artsconversations/e/artsconversations-thursday-july-22nd-2021. Shoshana also received an invitation to develop the show at the Brahms House.
Highlights of art work as a ballet pianist are positions with the American Ballet Theatre's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, Steps on Broadway, and the department of dance at Columbia University's Barnard College.
She is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop, The Dramatists Guild, Maestra, and StateraArts.
Born into a family of musicians, she studied piano from the age of four, as well as the harp, viola, and steel drums for several years. By the age of ten, she had been in hundreds of recitals and placed in or won several concerto competitions. She attended Interlochen Arts Camp, where she won the junior division piano award.
She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans and did post-baccalaureate studies at Columbia University.
Before returning to her roots as a professional musician, she worked as a Wall Street stock analyst and investor relations professional.
She is also a member of the Young Alumni Board of Loyola University New Orleans.
